Lenny's CAAAV Fundraiser!

Thank you for visiting my fundraiser page for CAAAV! CAAAV (Communities Against Asian American Violence) is a grassroots, progressive org fighting for tenant and immigrant rights for Chinese and Bengali communities across NYC. I recently joined CAAAV as part of the ARM organizing cohort. Over the last 6 months, I've been learning about what it means to be a CAAAV organizer and learning about the needs of our Asian immigrant communities. I'm excited to continue my work to ensure our Asian communities can thrive!

Chinatown has been a second home for me ever since I moved to NYC in 2013. I've gone from loving Chinatown as a consumer to volunteering for various Chinatown organizations to learning about and supporting the residents of Chinatown.

As I deepen my roots in NYC, I want to continue supporting and doing my part to ensure the AAPI community can live dignified and joyful lives here in NYC. And that starts with having a place that they can call home. Over half of all Asian immigrants in NYC are renters, and over 80% of rented Chinese households are rent-burdened, with 68.5% being severely rent-burdened (spending more than 50% of income on rent).

With your help, we can ensure our Asian communities are equipped to fight for their tenant and immigrant rights to ultimately live the life they are meant to live.
